My name is Themba Mkhangeli. Born 1992 & raised in a small village called Julukuqu just outside of Mthatha in Eastern Cape. I am currently based in Nyanga Township in Cape Town. I was raised by a single mother “my mother is the only father I know” . She runs a local business of selling sweets, chips buckets and meat over 25 years now.
I managed to compete in various competition like Sanlam Portrait Award 2017, my ballpoint pen portrait was selected through top finalists and also Vuleka Art Competition where two of my works where also selected through finalists.
My personal goal is to excel in all the aspects of art.
What I do Best
“ART IS MY LIFE”
I grew up without any formal art training, but after completing Grade 12, I decided to follow my passion in Art. I truly believe one needs to do what you love.
I plan to do art for a living since I believe “Art Is Life”. My dream is to own my own art studio and gallery and to serve as a mentor to young people, particularly from the poorer black communities.
